Proper tattoo aftercare is essential for healing and preserving your new artwork. Follow these steps carefully to ensure the best results.

Tattoo Aftercare Guide

1. Leave the Bandage On

Keep the initial bandage or wrap on for 2–4 hours after your session. This helps protect your tattoo from bacteria and external irritants.

After removing the bandage, wash your tattoo gently with lukewarm water and mild, fragrance-free soap. Use clean hands—no washcloths or sponges. Pat dry with a clean paper towel.

2. Gently Wash the Tattoo

3. Apply a Thin Layer of Ointment

Once dry, apply a small amount of tattoo-approved ointment or unscented moisturizer. Avoid petroleum-based products unless recommended by your artist.

4. Keep It Clean and Moisturized

Wash your tattoo gently twice a day and keep it lightly moisturized. Do not over-apply ointment; too much moisture can delay healing.

5. Avoid These During Healing

  • Direct sunlight or tanning beds

  • Swimming, hot tubs, or soaking in water

  • Scratching, picking, or peeling the tattoo

  • Tight clothing that rubs against the area

6. Expect Normal Healing Signs

Your tattoo may scab, flake, or feel slightly itchy—this is normal. Avoid scratching or picking at any scabs or flakes. Most tattoos take 2–4 weeks to heal completely.

7. Long-Term Care

Once healed, keep your tattoo vibrant by using SPF 30+ sunscreen and moisturizing regularly. Hydrated skin keeps the ink looking fresh for years.
